This shows the western entrance to the Indian Dock Channel where the extended trail ends.  This ice is all new ice the formed last night and is about 1" thick.  Taken Feb.26/17
This photo is curiously of Wayne Jeffery on Orchard Is.  This is looking southwest toward Wreck Is.  There was no open water visible when I was there last Monday.  Taken Feb.25/17

This shows the east narrows of the Indian Dock looking east.  There is about 500' of open water in the channel at the narrows.  The entrance to the bypass trail into the little bay has about 2" of soft white ice for about 100' in the mouth of the bay.  It makes it impassable.  The ice in general has slushy areas about 4" deep.  Taken Feb.25/17
This video is shot with my new sport cam retuning from the Indian Dock Channel.  It shows me crossing the channel then onto a portage over Louisa Is. and then proceeding to cross the south channel and then onto the portage to Kineras Bay.  Taken Feb.25/17

Saturday, 11 February 2017

I found 10" of ice in the western mouth of the Indian Dock Channel.  There is 6" of ice where the bypass trail comes onto the bay.  Avoid using the trail that enters near the western narrows as the ice is thin there.  Taken Feb.11/17

I found 8" of ice mid channel between Shasha and Beauty islands.  Taken Feb.11/17
I found 4" of ice about 200' off of Gash Is. between Bernyk Is.  Taken Feb.11/17

 Stopped on Port Rawlston Bay.
We made it though the lakes to H&H on Kappicog Lake near Mactier for the first run of the season.  I saw 2 wolves and 9 deer.  Sorry but no pictures.  Taken Feb.9/17

I found about 2 to 3" of slush under about 3" of snow on the ice.  The slush had a crust on it that the snowmobile mostly didn't break through.  Taken Feb.7/17
