I took advantage of a sunny break between the blizzards and high winds to take these pictures around Kineras Bay.  The ice around the shore is 4 to 6" thick.  Taken Dec.21/16

The bay froze over early this morning.  The channel is still open.  About 10" of snow fell yesterday and last night.  The winds were between 30 and 50 knot most of the day.  Taken Dec.15/16

I was surprised to find ice around my docks this morning.  The water was still 44 deg. F. yesterday.  I thought I had another 4 or 5 days.  I had to scramble to close some job sites, launch the scoot and haul my work boat.  This is the first ice of the season.
This week the blog has been viewed by more Russians than Canadian and American viewers combined.  I am curious why so many Russians are viewing.   Contact me and let me know.

Here are some pictures from the Spider Bay forest fire.  The fire is located on the point at the mouth of the Spider River.  It is a ground fire of about 30 hectares.  There was no property damage.  The MNR is on scene getting it under control.  Taken Nov.15/16

Kineras Bay froze over Sunday night with 4" of fresh snow.  There is now about 8" of snow on the ground.  Most of the ice drifted off yesterday afternoon.  I saw a boat go by in the channel so I know the channel is open into town.  I expect most of the ice and snow to be gone by this weekend if the favourable weather forecast holds up.  Taken Apr.12/16

A few shots of Kineras bay.  The temperature was -12c this morning with a high of -6 this afternoon.  A stiff easterly wind prevented the bay from refreezing.  Taken Apr9/16

Winter is back.  8" of snow and rain fell in the last 24 hours.  I was into town on Tuesday by boat.  The channel was free of ice except for areas of refreeze which had melted by the afternoon.  I recommend not trying to come out this weekend.  The weather is going to cool down and all this slushy snow will freeze solid making conditions hazardous.  You have to respect the weather especially during the off season.  The long term weather indicates that the April 15th weekend will have favourable weather.
