The view from the entrance of the Indian Dock Channel onto Five Mile Bay.  I found 4" of ice with 2" of slush under and 2" of ice below in this spot.  Another couple day of -20C temperatures should freeze this to a solid 8".  Taken Dec.30/13

I opened the trail from Vicary Lake to Spider lake.  This shows the entrance on the Spider lake side.  I found 4" of ice with  2" of slush between and 2" more ice beneath.  Taken Dec. 30/13

The view from Dunroe Is. on Five Mile Bay.  As you can see the whole bay is frozen over.  Quite a change in one week.  This is Black ice about 2 1/2" thick with 1" of snow.  This is the earliest freeze up in the seven years I've lived out here.  Taken Dec 17/13

It sure looks like winter with 12" of new snow on Kineras Bay.  The channel is frozen over.  Taken Dec 15/13

The cold weather has made a lot of ice in the last few days.  The high yesterday and today was -15C.  The low was - 22C last night.  About 12" of snow has fallen.  I now have 7" in front of my place in the middle of the bay.  As you can see there is ice from Redner bay all the way to Amanda.
